DESCRIPTION:The Franco Center will host an evening of line dancing with live music by Continental Shakedown on Wednesday\, June 3\, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at 46 Cedar St. Doors and cash bar open at 6 p.m. Admission is $15\, payable by cash or credit card at the door. The event will feature shout outs as to what dance works best for each song from Franco Center Production Manager Jake Hodgkin. Open line dancing will be the main course throughout the evening\, with guests invited to dance at their own pace to live music by Continental Shakedown. Line dancing typically involves groups of dancers moving in unison to choreographed steps\, but the evening is designed to be relaxed and informal\, allowing participants to join in as they feel comfortable. No partner is required. Hodgkin said the evening offers a "fun\, energetic\, and welcoming" environment where participants can learn new dances and enjoy live music. "It's an upbeat and engaging way for people to get moving\, try something new\, and connect with others on the dance floor\," Hodgkin said. Providing the live soundtrack for the evening is Continental Shakedown\, a Maine-based band formed in 2015 by Ken Goodman (guitar\, vocals) and Charlie Bradbury (bass\, vocals). Originally a blues-rock power trio\, the group has expanded into a quartet with drummer Lane Kaplan and multi-instrumentalist David Wakefield on saxophone\, harmonica\, and vocals. With more than a decade of performances and approximately 700 shows\, Continental Shakedown blends classic rock\, country\, rockabilly\, reggae\, Chicago and Texas blues\, and improvisational jam elements. The band is known for its three-part vocal harmonies\, creative instrumentation\, and polished presentation.
