Inspired by the innovation, creativity, and determination of the Wright Brothers, First Flight is designed to spotlight entrepreneurs, dreamers, creators, problem-solvers, and community changemakers ready to launch their next big idea.

A pitch event is an opportunity for individuals to present an idea, product, service, project, or solution in a short and engaging format. We want you to showcase the innovation and creativity in Androscoggin County!

Enter the pitch competition

We are looking for ideas in the following categories:

Small Business: For new business ideas that fill a market need, provide a product or service, and have the potential to become a successful small business in our community.
Start Up: For innovative, scalable, or high-growth business ideas that introduce a new product, technology, service, or approach to solving a problem.
Community Impact: For business ideas that generate both economic opportunity and positive social impact by addressing community challenges or improving quality of life in Androscoggin County.

To enter, participants are asked to submit a 1-minute video pitch answering the following questions:

• What is your idea?
• What problem does it solve?
• Who is it for?
• What would help it take flight?

On August 6, the top 12 finalists will take the stage for an exciting live pitch night. Finalists will present their ideas live in front of judges and attendees — no desk required, just passion, creativity, and vision.

The event will feature:

• Live pitches by all the finalists
• 1 winner per category
• Cash prize of $300 awarded to each category winner
